Fireproof

So let's get this started. Within minutes of having set up this site I got an e-mail forwarding me a link to the website for Fireproof. Fireproof is from the makers of "Facing the Giants" a film I've heard nothing but good things about, but have yet to see myself.

Fireproof stars Kirk Cameron and tells the story of a fireman trying to save his marriage. It looks like the typical Christian film, but as it is a Christian film, from Christian filmmakers I'm sure it could use our support.

Here's the link to the official site, feel free to leave comments on what you think of the trailer.

Welcome to The Christian Film Forum

Welcome to the temporary site for the Christian Film Forum. This blog will serve as the temporary site until I can get something more permanent set up. (Look for www.christianfilmforum.net to go live very soon) Let me tell you a bit about my hopes for this site.

First, I hope this will serve as a place where Christian can come together and celebrate film. I want a place where Christians can come and discuss the newest films and their favorite films. It's not necessarily for Christian movies (since those are few and far between anyways) but a place we can come together and discuss what we thought of movies and just share those we love with other Christians.

So in that vein I want this to be a place where you can post a review of a movie and then have others share their thoughts, where we can have discussions of the theological themes we see in various movies, or just a place to say "Hey did you see that awesome explosion in The Dark Knight!!!! It was Sweet!!!"

Basically I want a place for Christians to gather and bond over their love of cinema.

Second I want to build a place where Christian filmmakers can come together, swap ideas, and give each other encouragement and tips on how to succeed. Hopefully it will be a place where Christian filmmakers can find other like minded individuals who can get together and make some movies. (Be they Christian films, films with Christian themes, or just mainstream action flicks, whatever you want to make)

I hope that one day it will be a place that a struggling writer in Austin, TX can connect with a successful producer in Los Angeles who can give him tips on selling his screenplay, tips on making it better, or maybe just buying it up.

Now here's what I could use from you:

First start using the comments section of this blog to begin discussions. If you have reviews you want posted in which to begin discussions of certain films e-mail them to me at ChristianFilmForum@gmail.com and I'll post them up here to open up discussions.

Second if someone is a good designer and wants to design a logo that would be awesome.

Third pray that God will use this site to do his work in whatever way he sees fit.

Fourth, spread the word, send the site to your churches, ask them to post it in their bulletins, and just get people visiting the site.

And with that the comments section is open and I look forward to your comments.
